I love to travel!
March 1, 2010 * * * * * Posted by:

Over the years I have travelled to many different places. To travel is to learn about and experience different countries and traditions. When I was 7 years old my family planned to emigrate to Australia. My father went there ahead of us and started to work at a car factory in Adelaide. During that time he lived at a youth hostel and he was searching for a house for us to live in. Unfortunately my grandmother turned ill and it was decided that we should stay in Sweden. Since that day Australia has been my favourite place in the world.
I have visited friends in Perth and learned a lot of their town and the surroundings. I have been there trough marriage and childbirths. We have talked about kids, husbands and life in general.
Sydney was the first place I visited when I was only twelve. My friend Maya and I shared thoughts and friendship for over 15 years. I learned to know her sister and parents, they were very nice people. We were there for each other trough high school and later on marriage. After a while we grew apart and our lives took different paths. I still think of her often and wonder how she is and what she’s doing now.
Melbourne is another town in OZ I love. Mayas great grandparents were from Sweden and settled down in Melbourne because of the climate there. She and I spent lots of summers there when we were growing up.
I still visit Sydney quite often to see another friend of mine. New Years Eve is the best time so far with all the fireworks at Harbour Bridge. At midnight we looked at them from her fathers’ balcony. Amazing! We also share lots of interests and beliefs.
I have seen all the different tourist must haves around Australia. Ayers Rock, Kangaroo Island, Great Barrier Reef, Cairns and Blue Mountains. I have seen koalas, kangaroos and emus. But still, there is much left to see.
One is never too old to learn new things and I strive to learn one new ting every day. I have met many friends through the Internet and each and every one of them has shown me pieces of their everyday life, their countries and traditions. Hopefully I have done the same for them. Yes you’re right! I travel through all the beautiful pictures and stories I read on the internet. Through my email friends all over the world I learn about their countries and what they think about life in general.
Hopefully I will be able to travel to Australia some day in the future and be able to see all those beautiful places for real. But until then thank you all of you from Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, USA , The Netherlands and other countries. You have brighten my life with your pictures and stories.
Ps. The image above is from the Maspalomas Desert ,Gran Canaria,Spain. A place I HAVE seen for real but that is another story :-)

What a stunning desert scene. Can't wait to hear more about your travels there. And in the meantime - enjoy this 'virtual' travel that we all do here on the web. Such a great way to see the world...when you can't see it in real life and person. Wonderful post!!!
Beautiful shot! I've been there but didn't see this beautiful light. ;-( I also like the virtual travel, but last week I was surprized to virtually meet someone who lives in my neighborhood.
Oh this is a beautiful shot! And I love to travel too...
You caught lots of magic in this image, Frida. It's beautiful! I have to agree with everything you've said about Australia, even though I've been only once for 3 weeks...to Sydney, along the Gold Coast to Brisbane, and to Magnetic Island. It's a world to see, for sure. I have a nephew who lives in Sydney, so it has strong connections for me. Don't know if I'll ever get back but maybe I'll see more of it through your eyes one day? I hope so.
The Internet has made a neighborhood out of our world. We can stop in for a morning chat with anyone! Your photo today is magnificent!
Frida, this photo is stellar. So much contrast in textures, excellent use of thirds, but overall just a really dynamite first impression. Gorgeous!
Beautiful shot that makes me want to add this place to my Life List!
Oh Frida, this is beautiful. Sometimes I long for the dry heat of the desert, it just makes me feel so much better. We are all so lucky to be together while we travel along!
What a beautiful outlook on life. I too love to visit new places and experience their cultures.
Your photo is stunning.
Not only do we meet such fascinating people through the wonderful world of the internet, but see spectacular images such as yours on today's post. Loved this image.
What a wonderful trip you took us on - you totally had me, btw. ;) Can't wait to hear more about this image.
ooooh do i get itchy feet when i read your post :) i love to travel more than anything. australia is somewhere i touched on only briefly, i rather got stuck on this continent :)
I realize I've already commented but I'm here again today and am absolutely in love with this outstanding photo. Dramatic and beautiful
I grew up in a home that didn't even have a car, and we lived in rural Pennsylvania. So, my traveling was limited to places I found in books. I shouldn't say 'limited' because I've been all over the world through what others have written and photographed. Thank you for taking me to Spain with your Vision and to Australia with your Verb. I agree with you 100% travelling is wonderful. It opens you mind, create lifelong memories and as you say “One is never too old to learn new things” because when one travels one learn new things. I have traveled to 48 countries so far and this year I’ll visit 3 additional new ones (if you’d like to read about the countries here is a post I made: http://avagabonde.blogspot.com/2010/01/january-time-to-plan-travels-part-i.html.) I came to this country because I wanted to travel, that was the only reason, and I have not stopped since. I do understand what you mean when you say: I love to travel, as I do, too.
