    The September Issue

I have a fondness for the September issue of Vogue.  I go on the website, make sure I know the exact day it will arrive on the news stand and then I wait while the owner, Mr. Britton, cuts open the bundle and gives me a copy from the middle, g*d forbid my issue should be creased or bent!  I am not elegant; I do not dress like a glamour puss although I would be honoured to hear myself described as one.

This year has been special; I have been waiting with a DVD of the film, The September Issue, Anna Wintour and the Making of Vogue.  I am dying to watch it, I know already that I will love it but I promised myself I would not watch it until I read this years September issue.

The September issue is a plethora of amazing talent including personal, intimate photos disguised as advertisements.  It is a true team effort of advertising genius, creative directors, editors, fashion designers, models, hair and make up people and photographers.  To me, it is art.  Beautiful art.

The same way I pour over my decorating magazines, I lean into my Vogue.  I look at all the details, the camera angles, the clothes, the clothes and the shoes.  I laugh at how sometimes the models are photo shopped to bizarre proportions, tiny heads with legs to the ceiling.  I read the letters to the editor and the columns, marveling at this world of magazine publishing, wondering who was in the focus group that drove that piece!  Which woman thought heels like that was a good idea?  Smiling at the ever-present baby boomer women gracing the pages with their grace.

I’m changing now into my most comfy pajama pants, pouring a glass of wine and cracking the spine of the biggest issue ever!!

The composition of the photo I love a lot. Nice how you came up with this idea. I did some book shots myself a while back, with a pair of glasses on them, but this flowery composition gives me new ideas.

For someone who has never had an interest in high fashion (read Vogue), Margie, you have really piqued my curiosity. :) I might surprise myself one of these days and actually look for it in a shop to see what you're talking about. Sister Ruth would buy it, though, so I have a smile on my face. If you hadn't written this post, I would have never known the September issue was extra special. Hope you're still enjoying it, as we speak. The flower on top does make it seem extra...worthy. :)

Oh..that 'September' issue!!! I - too - love this particular issue more than any other. It always carried with it the 'change in seasons'..and what the latest and greatest will wear. I grew up in a family and life that was immersed in fashion Montreal haute-couture (or the 'shmate' industry..as you may know it).

And now I look only because I enjoy the photography..the 'art'. Sounds like the perfect evening!!!

I have never had an interest in Vogue but now you have me intrigued and wondering what is so extra special about the September issue...

Marcie..Vogue called, they wanna put you in charge of their Marketing Dept! :)
Nice post and I just "saw" a wrapped issue by my neighbors mailbox! I wonder now what/who is on the cover??

Barry headed out for some errands yesterday morning, "Do you need anything?" "Yes, the September Issue!" I am saving it for tonight. I will be home alone, the chores will be done and I'm going to immerse myself in it!
    Great post sista!

You have me intrigued, Margie. My models today will be fruits and veggies, with the assorted infant and toddler thrown in. For now, my dog is calling me.

Receieved mine yesterday (have subscribed to Vogue for 20 years now, despite not having the cash to buy anything in it!) and have paged through it in it's entirety. There are some amazing editorials, but what else do we expect from Vogue? Now to read it!

Now I wanna know what that is all about. I am going to search the bookstore for a copy. I need to see those pictures. Love the photo.

Vogue. For someone who "grew up" in retail (my aunt owned a dress shop and from the moment I could count change I work in the shop) I have never particularly been interested in Vogue. Fashion, yes. Vogue magazine, no. My retail days are over. My modeling days are long gone. Give me Eddie Bauer pants and some good Merrell shoes -- all the better to hike in the woods!

Now...if Vogue suits you, I'm all for it! Enjoy your special edition. I'll curl up with the latest "Color" magazine. :)

LOVED your photo! Perfect for today's post! Love the hint of reflection and the added touch of the daisy. Nicely done.

Ginnie's right. I want to go buy it right now. The way you describe the art, beauty and sillies reflects my own feeling too. :)

I'm not sure I've ever read it! I think I live a protected life out here in the country.

I like People magazine and just watched the making of Micheal Jackson's This is It. It was great but sad that it will never happen.

I haven't seen a Vogue issue in many years but you made me want to go and purchase one. By the way, that photo of you on your blog last month really did make you look like Anna Wintour.
