I thought I was on the moon, but then I woke up ...

.....and I was in the middle of Lake Eyasi - on the floor of the Great Rift Valley - and the air was dry and heavy. The horizon beckoned invitingly, rather too invitingly; mesmerizing, hallucinogenic, edgy. I don't know about you, I said to J, but the world just seems a tad out of sorts today.
Lets not go back, he said. Lets just keep walking and see where we go. For a moment I thought of sensible things like water, a good pair of shoes (flip-flops are not advisable for far-off explorations), and a hat. But then J ran off ahead of me, laughing loudly, with my loyal Red Dog at his heels, trusty co-pilot of many an adventure. And I just had to follow.

Man! I love it, Eliza. Knowing a bit more of the story, I love how you have told it here, full of mystery and promise...and with no looking back. I love that your shadows are loooong and far-reaching towards the horizon of your Life Together. Maybe sometimes we have to be "far-out on the moon" before we can wake up and get re-oriented to our life on earth. Nothing ever stays the same. Maybe that's the point...to move on and live the next grand adventure. You'll have so much to tell us and I can hardly wait. In the meantime, bon voyage. Thank God you changed your shoes and didn't forget your hat!
Wonderful, although it's rather unsettling just looking at such an 'alien' landscape and as for actually being there...!
The beginnings of a great adventure. Love how you've brought us into this story..and begun it. Wonderful..and so very creative. Terrific image of the shadows - just enough information to set the tone for so much more to come!
I've read this 5 times, looked at the picture for quite a while and I am thinking ... huh? now you have made me very very curious !
Love this, what intrigue, from both the story and the photo. Love is always a foreign land, is it not? Beautiful.
Let's not go back.
Just this week I suggested selling everything and hitting the road, just to see where we end up ...

What an amazing image.
Flip flops and all? You brave woman! What grand adventures you have, Eliza! That photo is so perfect for your story.
Mackenna's Gold... African style. One more day there without water, flip-flops and a straw hat, and you'd be gone totally mad. :-)
It does look like the moon! Go for you for following...
