Divine Morning

Now each morning when your mind is still empty,
devote a little time to the divine.
The air contains a cosmic force.
Inhale deeply
and ask for all the blessings in the air to enter your body and fill every cell.
Then exhale slowly, projecting happiness and peace around you.
You'll be helping to heal yourself
and contributing to healing the world as well.
-Paulo Coelho, Aleph
I had the opportunity recently to travel up the Alaskan Inside Passage with my daughter.
I capitalize Inside Passage, whether or not it's necessary, because I feel such reverance for this place.
One morning I awoke, aware that my surroundings were quiet, pulled myself out of my cozy bed and stepped outside on the deck. There were a few others out there; all in awe. No one spoke.
The water was liquid silver and silence rested on the surface and I can't remember a time or a place where I felt so viscerally that I was somewhere otherworldly.
When I take time to mindfully breathe and center in the early hours, I want to remember and feel this place. Breathing in that air really did fill every cell with blessings.
That's the joy of travel, isn't it? We return richer than when we left.
Alaska,
Coelho,
Inside Passage,
Peace

Thank you many times over. The image was serenely beautiful, the quote wonderful and your recognition of the magic of the moment sublime. As a morning person I try hard to cherish such moments.
A lovely post. When you find a place like that, a place which endows with such peace and serenity and beauty, you have to treasure it. Take photographs, hold it in your mind and heart, and remember it when times are hard.
Y-E-S-S-S-S!! And - I'm standing here right there beside you breathing in the serenity and the beauty!!! What a stunning moment of breathtaking silence...thank-you!
Beautiful! I love how you were reminded and connected there. Now you have reminded me too, thank you:~)
Having been to the Inside Passage years ago, Barbara, you definitely need to capitalize it! I can still feel the silence after all these years. No one dares to speak because it really is a place for reverance. So, yes, indeed, that's the joy of travel. I love how you have described this moment in your vision and verb. Thank you.
Although I'm not an early bird, Barbara, your photo and words have encouraged me to utilize better the morning moments before everything gets moving. You know what's interesting? When we stand in awe on such occasion you've written about, we feel both humble and uplifted…
How utterly beautiful. I echo Marcie's words - I AM also standing there. Words and image are divine.
To have experienced the reverence of that stunningly beautiful sight surrounded by silence, to be able to mindfully breathe and find center, and that others respected the serenity and beauty, is truly a blessing.
You may be well have 'returned than when you left' ; we are richer from having enjoyed your post. Thank you.
Oh my.... wow! Just yesterday I was saying that I miss my mountains. What a glorious view and photo, I could feel myself breathing it in as if I were there. Alaska is my bucket list destination... the one place I still need to get to.
I am richer just by looking at your photo, reading your post. Thank you.
I understand why that view brought you all to silence, it is simply stunning. I love the quote by Coelho, too. Lovely Vision and Verb, Barbara!
I held my breathe and needed to remind myself to breathe, the image is so stunning.
What a beautiful image. I have been to Alaska and it's one of the most beautiful places in the world!
Lovely. That is, indeed, one of the gifts of travel. And, for me, it is a gift to come home again and realize that some of my everyday surroundings offer that same feeling if I can just learn to see it. Beautiful photo.
What a gorgeous sight! After seeing this and reading your post, Alaska is on my list of must see places!
That is an amazing image, quite breathtaking. I am imagining myself standing there soaking up the atmosphere. Wonderful :-)
Beautiful Barbara. I understand that moment you take in the view/experience and the awe that fills you. I, too, capitalize words (when grammatically/style there should not) when they are sacred to me-- like reference to Nature.
Magic ~ pure & simple!
The words of Paul Coehlo rings so true, Barbara it seems to have been such a divine experience. I am taking in your photograph and losing myself in it. Thank you
...and silence rested on the surface...
Those words are as beautiful as the capture!
What a glorious image, Barbara! I once traveled up the Canadian Inside Passage, and like you, I always capitalize that! It is such a unique area, so serene and quiet, with a wonderful smell. Thank you for this wonderful image!
