    Pictures My Way

There's a bit of a running joke amongst my family and friends, that I am bound to take a good photograph, whip it into Photoshop and just "ruin" it.  And it's not really meant in an unkind way, just their cumulative observations of my behaviour.

Therefore when I came across this quote by Veronica Stensby .....

"Truly the camera widens our vision and love for the natural world around us.
As an artist, my greatest challenge is to constantly switch gears from the fascinating realism and meticulous detail of photography to the personal vision of my own interpretation." (Veronica Stensby)

.......I had a good laugh and smiled widely, because clearly I am not alone! (Thank goodness for that!)

So now at the dinner table I can say with great confidence, I am NOT ruining the picture people, merely interpreting it according to my own personal vision!

    Sounds quite grand doesn't it?

And hooray for your personal vision if it creates things like this photograph.

Good for you. You are not alone. I don't have Photoshop, but I often take a photo which I am perfectly satisfied with, and then decide it can be "improved" for my pleasure. I can finish up with half a dozen versions of the same photo all of which get saved along with the original. And that is seeing my image through my vision. Just like you and Victoria Stansby.

Love..love the quote! And - thank goodness for your personal vision..because it's truly unique and inspiring! You have a gift for seeing and transforming the ordinary in a whole new and different light!

I LOVE this interpretation! Beautiful. Be you, that's all you can do.

Nowadays, most anyone can take a picture. But not everyone can create art with the camera. To me, that's where the artistic vision comes into play.

Artistic vision is what I see in your beautiful image. Love it!

Yes, it does sound quite grand! just as grand as this image ~ please keep doing your magic with your photos.

The results of your vision are amazing, I am glad you put your own interpretation on everything you see. You end up with a beautiful result, Marie

And your "personal vision" of this image is just fantastic! Love how you processed this. Keep listening to your inner artist...

Perfect. And it always feels good, doesn't it, to know we're not alone in our "ruining" or our "crazies" or the way we do things. Yes - the Stensby quote is validating. Glad you shared it.

Besides, "a prophet is without honor in [her] own country!" HA! Exactly, Marie. I've been learning you can't please all the people all the time, especially family, so just do what's fun and what pleases YOU! BRAVA! :)

Ha, yes! And your photo is beautiful. For me, it is always about making the photo look like what I saw in my mind... which I guess is another way of saying the same thing. Keep smiling!

Marie...I LOVE this photo. First, my favorite colors and second the subject matter. Incredible what you did with it! I'm just learning Lightroom, but I can't wait to learn Photoshop Elements so I can play with some of the layering processes. You made a beautiful piece of ART!

Marie, your kind of image is my kind of image! Your creative mark and spirit is far deeper and wider than anyone can ever know!

Sometimes I too get the urge to transform my photographs in a photo editing programme so that it is more like I want it to be and the quote is so perfect.

I agree completely with your feeling about photography. I believe there are people who use their camera settings and other tools to capture what they see and want to show with the photo and make it uniquely theirs. And there are others who look at the photo they've taken and they see more than what they captured in it and are able to bring that out with software like Photoshop or with their development process if they are using film. I don't think one is more correct than the other, just different ways of being an artist. I know I enjoy both types of photos and certainly love the image you've posted here.
