Shiny Things
February 29, 2012 * * * * * Posted by:

I wonder sometimes
As life removes the extraneous
Leaving only the core
Is this really necessary?
Must there be a catalyst?
A bottom?
Exposing the craggy rocks?
Where is the shiny bauble?
The light dancing on ocean waves?
The thing of all things?
I see the event
Clearly in my mind
That day
Or is it days?
When I will wisely
Nod my head and sigh
“Ah yes, that’s it."
But then I will realize
It was there all the time
Changing appearance
With my ever changing eyes
Here’s to whatever catches your eye, especially if it is looking through your camera!

Oh...Maery - what beautiful poetry! Love what's caught your eye today..and how you've described the wonder of it all.
Poetry and photos, the best combination to express
Thanks for your comments. Today what's catching my eye is the first big snow storm of the season. I've been waiting for this all winter but am not happy that it chose to fall on the one day that I have to drive 200 miles to another work site. Timing is everything... = /
This suddenly reminds me of "all that glitters is not gold"...except that you said it so much better, Maery! Sometimes that which does not glitter IS gold, right in front of us. Beautifully said and shown!
Travel mercies as you drive today through SNOW on this last day of February?!
I am getting this message in so many ways: look for the beauty in unexpected places. Keep your eyes open to new things. Thanks, Maery, for a lovely piece today.
Lucky thing to have ever changing eyes ~ lovely words and image!
a beautiful reminder to slow down, to stare, and sometimes, i must say that doing it without a camera is sweet.
This Ozark Farm Chick loves that wonderful Marey Rose and her gift with a camera!!!
Yet another great poem and shinnin' picture to go with it!
God bless ya from the happy hills and hollers of the windblown Missouri Ponderosa.
Have a great day ya'll!!!
Beautiful blown glass Maery!
Beautiful...image...imagery...concept.
beautiful image. gold is, indeed, usually right at our feet. or in view of our camera. I'm loving mine and learning to see light for what it does and is.
Beautiful image and poetry.
Maery...lovely, brilliant, exquisite image and poem...Oh I am just truly moved. I have been finding and experiencing poetry so profound lately. I thank you for your beautiful and pithy thoughts and the willingness to share your heart, imagination and love of words with us.
