    The Edge of Light

'When you come to the edge of all the light you know, and are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing one of two things will happen; There will be something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly...'

I know of no better explanation of Faith, Marcie. It really does stand at the edge of light (peering into the darkness)...believing the glass is half full, instead of half empty. I really like that. I especially like that your image is of the light and not of the darkness.

Out of curiosity, when you taught your first Yoga class on Friday, did you land on something solid or did you fly?! :)

Marcie, this image is beyond beautiful, beyond stellar, beyond breathtaking. I have sat here in front of my monitor for several minutes just trying to soak up the splendor.

Faith speaks to us in many, many ways...and, in my mind we need BOTH the solid foundation and the ability to fly/soar. Which leads me to Ginnie's comment. I didn't realize you were teaching your first class on Friday, but I suspect your solid foundation helped you get started - in the beginning. But I would imagine as you let go and became immersed in the experience that you soared!

Thank you, as always, for this thoughtful, breathtaking post.

Hey Marcie, I've had this excellent quote in my note book a long time ... what an outstanding pairing it makes with this glorious image! It truly is breathtaking ~ so sweet to think of you teaching your yoga class, I bet there was much soaring going on.

For the past week, I've had several opportunities to watch the sun sink down into a cloud bank as it sets. The sunsets have been striking enough that I've pulled out my camera. Looking at your image, I'm reminded again of the difference between a real photographer and a snap-shooter! Beautiful image!

To add to and respond to the questions/comments here...

Yes - on Friday I taught my very first yoga class. As a relatively quiet introvert - standing up in front of people and hearing my voice spoken out loud scared the crap out-a-me. But - I did it. I felt the fear..I faced it - and did it anyway. And - I can say that I felt both the solid ground beneath me..and an unexpected sense of freedom that comes with facing one's fears. It was pretty amazing - actually!!!

    Thanks'all...:-)

What a wonderful pairing of image and quote. Congratulations on the first Yoga Class, what a great feeling to conquer one's fears.

Amazing! I think I would try to learn how to fly :-)

I am so glad your first Yoga class went so well for you.
